Fish consumption advisories
The Oregon Health Authority has issued consumption guidelines for parts of the Columbia River due to high levels of mercury and/or PCBs. Fish with these chemicals look, act, smell and taste like any other fish, so caution is important.

SALMON, STEELHEAD AND SHAD
Catch rates were good above Bonneville Dam on Saturday, May 2. The states are waiting for the upriver run spring Chinook size update before considering additional salmon fishing opportunity on the Columbia River.
Lower Columbia: Closed – no report.
Bonneville Pool: Closed. Saturday checking showed 23 Chinook kept for 50 bank anglers.
The Dalles Pool: Closed. Saturday checking showed 16 Chinook kept, and one steelhead released for 19 boats (51 anglers).
John Day Pool: Closed. Saturday checking showed four jack Chinook kept and one jack Chinook released for 17 boats (45 anglers).
STURGEON
Lower Columbia River: No report.
Bonneville Pool: Weekly checking showed five sublegal, two legal, and three over-legal sturgeon released for three boats (10 anglers).
The Dalles Pool: No report.
John Day Pool: Weekly checking showed one sublegal and seven over-legal sturgeon released for two boats (five anglers).
WALLEYE
Lower Columbia River (below Bonneville Dam): No report.
Bonneville Pool: Weekly checking showed seven walleye kept and two walleye released for three boats (10 anglers).
The Dalles Pool: Weekly checking showed 133 walleye kept and seven walleye released for 19 boats (58 anglers).
John Day Pool: Weekly checking showed 80 walleye kept and 11 walleye released for 18 boats (30 anglers).
